Biography
Prior to taking up an academic career in lecturing and research in 2005, I gained a wealth of experience in Human Resource Management, Engineering Sales and commercial partnering drawn from both the public and private sectors. My work experience in the public sector involved all aspects of personnel management, and training and development of staff in one of the largest military training establishments in Europe. I was also responsible for the coordination and long term planning for staff training needs, implementing and managing the central training budget and authorising and monitoring training spend for all departments on behalf of the Director of Training.
My business and commercial experience involved project management and aspects of risk management, dealing with commercial contracts, defence contracts, purchasing and customer service. Different corporate working practices and governance has resulted in her broad business administration knowledge from which many examples of good and bad practice has been gained.
I have experience as an internal consultant where I have been the lead for the planning, design and implementation of project management training workshops as part of the senior managers staff development programmes. Through working in partnership in supporting the senior management team in their own personal development this aided their commitment in fostering a learning culture and helped them to facilitate and acquire conceptual, strategic, analytical and interpersonal skills.
I have also designed and delivered project management training programmes for commercial customers, from introductory through to strategic level, endorsed by the Institute of Leadership and Management. My customers included senior managers from the NHS, Scientists, Engineers and Solicitors.
