Summary

I joined the university on the 3rd September 2018. I currently work in the School of health and Social Care professions as a Senior teaching Fellow and am the Lead for the MN Nursing Adult and Mental Health course due to start in September 2024.

For the last 5 years I have been an Academic Assessor for Part 3 on the nursing programme and Module coordinator for the Level 6 60 credit Practice Module Enhancing Professional Nursing Practice.

Before joining the University I had gained experience in teaching in a number of roles they include Quality Improvement Practioner, Learning Environment Lead and Practice Educator. This roles made me realise that I had a passion for teaching and supervision of learners.

I have  spent most of my career working in the community with a particular focus on Public Health. This is where my real passion lies. I qualified as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse in September 2011 working closely with families with children from 0-5 years. Much of this role entailed safeguarding, Child development, supporting Mental Health and addiction,  and preventative health. I was the infant feeding lead in Health Visiting and supported the role out of Baby Friendly Initiative.

Prior to this role I worked in general practice as a Practice nurse completing Holiday Vaccinations, immunisation programmes, wound care, Coronary heart disease, sexual health to name a few. When qualifying in 2004 I took my first role for 4 years as a Community nurse. I still have a passion for Public Health and Community Nursing it is such a privaledged role to be able to support people in their own homes and really get to know them.
