Second year BA (Hons) Drama and Performance and BA (Hons) Musical Theatre students entertained local schoolchildren with giant puppets and a Victorian puppet theatre at the opening of the Horrible Histories exhibit at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard last week.

The 18 students performed for an audience of local schoolchildren, who loved the pirate puppets. The exhibition, Horrible Histories: Pirates, is on now.

Dr Matt Smith, Lecturer in Applied Theatre, said: “The children all really engaged with the puppet shows and crazy puppet stories.”

Dr Erika Hughes, Course Leader, added: “This fabulous event brought our students together with local schoolchildren to create an educational and engaging experience that fused history and performance.”
