Ihab Master’s led him a step closer to his goal of making air travel cheaper for all
Growing up I always had a need to understand how things work, I loved disassembling my car toys to see what was on the inside. I then went on to get A* in mathematics and physics.
I have always enjoyed solving problems so engineering seemed like an inevitable career choice. I joined the University of Portsmouth to pursue my Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. The UK is a leader in aerospace design and manufacturing, the University of Portsmouth was a great starting point.
As soon as I started my course I realised the vastness of opportunities available to me as a student.

What really helps is how lecturers here at the University of Portsmouth don’t just give you information; they guide you and then let you discover the rest yourself. You learn from your mistakes, using hands on laboratories and group projects, which are far more rewarding.
I graduated with a Distinction from my Master’s program. My thesis on Morphing Wing design, which involves creating a bird-like aircraft wing using smart materials and multidisciplinary optimisation techniques to increase aerodynamic efficiency also received a Distinction.
One of my long term objectives is to contribute to making air travel cheaper for everyone.
The MSc has set me up for a brilliant future. Now I just need to put my plans into action!
