Get an accounting or tax question answered

A free 30-minute appointment, overseen by qualified accountants.

At a glance

Who it's for

Small and micro businesses and not-for-profit organisations. We also see individuals.

Cost

Free.

Timescales

A 30-minute appointment, then a follow-up. Longer projects run over about three months.

Best suited to

A specific question you need answered, rather than ongoing bookkeeping or representation.

What's involved

You bring a question. Our students research it, and you get an answer or a clear pointer to where to go next. Everything is overseen by qualified accountants.

We can help with:

  • General accounting enquiries
  • General taxation enquiries
  • Independent examinations of accounts for not-for-profit organisations
  • Longer pieces of work, where a question needs more than an appointment

How it works

1. Book an appointment

Choose a slot in one of our clinic windows.

2. Come and explain the question

A 30-minute appointment with a student team.

3. We research it

The students look into your question, supervised by qualified accountants.

4. You get an answer

A follow-up with an answer, or a clear signpost to whoever can help. If the question needs more work, we may be able to take it on as a longer project.

Before you enquire

The clinic runs at set points in the year, not continuously. If you have an urgent deadline, check the dates before you rely on us.

We answer questions and examine accounts. We can’t act as your accountant, file on your behalf, or represent you to HMRC.

You won’t get an answer in the appointment itself. The students research your question afterwards and come back to you.
