Entry requirements for students from Austria

If you're joining us from Austria, the entry requirements you need to meet will depend on the course you want to study.

We consider all applications we receive. However, to make sure you get the most out of your time studying with us and have the best chance of applying successfully, we recommend the following minimum qualifications:

Undergraduate courses

If you've completed the Reifeprufungszeugnis or Maturazeugnis and have achieved a grade of 2.25, we'll consider you for admission onto an undergraduate course such as a Bachelor's degree.

Postgraduate courses

If you've completed a Bachelor's degree in Austria with a grade of 2 / Gut (bestanden), we'll consider you for admission onto our Master's programmes.

PhDs

We'll consider you for a PhD if you have a good Master's degree and submit a research proposal.

English Language Requirements

When you join us, it’s important that you can speak and understand English to the level that your course requires. The specific English language requirements will be on your chosen course page. For Bachelors courses, we are looking at a minimum of IELTS 6.0 overall with no component below 5.5. For Postgraduate courses, we are looking for a minimum of IELTS 6.5 with no component below 6.0. Alternative English language certificates we accept you can find here.

We can accept a grade of 2 / Gut in English (where both written and oral exams are taken) from your Reifeprufungszeugnis or Maturazeugnis as an equivalent to IELTS 6.0 overall and no component below 5.5. We can accept a grade of 1 / Sehr Gut in English (where both written and oral exams are taken) as an equivalent to IELTS 6.5 overall and no component below 6.0.
