Study is just the start

Try out something new, get involved with a cause you care about and meet new people with our Students' Union and societies.

The Students' Union

Our Students’ Union (UPSU) is here to make your life as a student better. Run for students, by students, it promotes your rights and looks after your wellbeing while you're at university.

The Union is buzzing with young and inspiring leaders who, just like you, are improving their skills, taking on new experiences and motivating other students to also get involved.

The Union’s mission is to make a positive impact on every Portsmouth student. It’s been voted as the best on the south coast for the last 3 years, and features consistently in the top 20 in the country (as ranked by the National Student Survey).

The Union can also give you support and advice on everything from housing to health. You'll have access to activities and services that broaden your horizons, increase your employability, help you make lifelong friends and support you through student life.

Joining a society

There are loads of student-run societies at the University, covering sport, culture, politics, gaming, faith and much more.
