Find the accounting, economics and finance course for you

From accounting to economics, build the skills and get the qualifications you need for your future career

From the individual financial choices we make each day, to the big decisions that shape the success of the global economy, the subjects of accounting, economics and finance deal with how money is made, spent, shared, recorded and managed.

And because money impacts every aspect of society, accounting, economics and finance degrees are among the best for graduate employment prospects. With the analytical skills, financial expertise and experience you'll gain on your degree, you could graduate into jobs such as investment banker, stockbroker, financial analyst, accountant, forensic accountant, project manager or management consultant.

Professional accreditations

Several of our courses are accredited by professional bodies including the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). Accreditation can mean you can fast-track your career by getting chartered status sooner.

5 reasons to study an accounting, economics or finance degree at Portsmouth

1. Study an accredited degree (CIMA, ACCA or ICAEW)

Our accreditations can help you fast-track your career and reach chartered status sooner. Depending on your course and modules you could graduate with ACCA or CIMA exam exemptions, which means you'll only need to take the remaining industry exams after your graduate.

2. Join a CISI approved centre

We're a recognised Centre for Excellence for finance teaching with the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI), meaning your degree has an industry seal of approval.

3. Complete industry placements

Use our strong business connections to secure a placement year in a company like IBM, Estée Lauder, Boeing, Amazon, BMW or the Bank of England.

4. Use our Bloomberg suite

Depending on which course you choose, you'll access our industry standard Bloomberg terminals to monitor and analyse financial market activity and use financial databases like DataStream and Bank Scope. You'll have the chance to earn your Bloomberg Certificate as you study.

5. Choose a qualification that suits you

Whether you want to study a full undergraduate or postgraduate degree, or if you're an EU or international student looking to top up your diploma to degree level with one of our top-up courses, we have a range of courses and qualifications to meet your needs.

After university, I was offered a job back at the company where I undertook my placement - Opus 2 International. Now, a year on - I have gone from being a placement student to being the Project Manager for all our Client Cases in the APAC Region. I feel that with my placement, my career certainly received a jump start.
