Promoting participation at Portsmouth
How we're addressing gaps in student outcomes
The University of Portsmouth is committed to delivering good outcomes for all of its students. To address gaps in student outcomes we have developed our Access and Participation Plan which runs from September 2025 to July 2029. You can read the Office for Students approved Access and Participation Plan (APP) and summary of the plan.
Our Portsmouth Access and Participation plan focuses on three periods during a student journey:
Succeeding before University
These projects support students to achieve in education and access University.
We work with schools and colleges to help motivate and inspire students to reach their full educational potential and to develop a future that is right for them.
Thriving at University
These projects support students to persevere with their studies, progress successfully from one year to the next year, and attain good degree outcomes.
We also work to reduce inequalities on attainment of good degrees between different groups of students.
Flourishing after University
We work with students both during their studies and when they graduate to develop the right skills and knowledge to find a career path that is right for them.
Evaluating Impact
We'll measure the impact of interventions to assess how effectively they reduce inequality gaps, and then use those evaluations to guide how we can deliver more effective interventions in the future.
